Japanese marking knives (known as kiridashi) are small single-edged knives made for marking lines in cabinetry and carpentry. Because of their sharpness, kiridashi can make much more precise lines than pencils, chalk, colored pencils, etc. These marking knives are individually hand forged by Walter from twist damascus bodies and Hitachi Blue Paper Steel cutting edges hardened to Rockwell 63. This extremely complex forge-welding process results in a knife that combines beauty and remarkable edge holding. Each knife is uniquely finished and slightly different in size, but all are roughly 5 to 6 inches long. See Walter's Youtube video from 12/06/24 for more details.
